Auf alten Gemälden bilden sich im Laufe der Zeit Risse in der Malschicht. Die Gestalt der Risse ist abhängig vom Bildträger und den Bedingungen, denen ein Bild ausgesetzt war. Ich kopiere das feine Rissnetz (Craquelé) mit Hilfe einer Beamerprojektion auf einen Bildträger in der Größe und Beschaffenheit des Originals. Die Linien werden mit einer Radiernadel in die Grundierung geritzt. Mit der Zeit bilden sich auch in meinen Bildern Risse, zwei Alterungszustände überlagern sich.

Over time old paintings develop cracks in the painted surface. The shape of these cracks depends on the material of the ground and the conditions the painting has been exposed to. Using a beamer projection I copied the subtle network of cracks (craquelure) onto a primed image carrier which is of the same size and material as the original. The lines were scratched into the priming with a needle. Over time my paintings, too develop cracks, and two states of aging are superimposed onto each other.
